Textile decoration – City & Guilds Level 2

Learn the practical skills and knowledge to make textiles and craft items.

Three projects are to be undertaken and a folder of work is to be produced. The Design for Craft studies will be presented, appropriately, with the assessments.
• A metre of fabric decorated using one or more techniques.
• A length of fabric for a stated product selected from the list below.
• A set of 10 samples developed from the Design for Craft ideas and using decorative techniques.
• A folder of work.
Project 2 to be chosen from a cushion, shawl, scarf, bag, belt, hanging, stool, drop-in seat or similar item.
In Projects 1 and 2,one piece must be developed using printing techniques and one piece using dyeing techniques. Dyed pieces may be overprinted. Techniques are listed in ‘The course ’.
Each sample for Project 3 must be a minimum of 1/2 metre in length by the full width of fabric selected. Fabrics must range across smooth faced, pile fabrics and textured.
